Elderberries are said to support the immune system, fight harmful bacteria, be high in nutrients and have antiviral cold & flu properties. Elderberry syrup is sold in stores to help with flu symptoms. Now you can use these high quality berries to make your own syrup or add to muffins or pancakes for a berry flavor similar to blueberries but not quite as sweet. Here is a recipe for tea: 16 oz filtered water, 2 Tbls elderberries, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp turmeric and 1 tsp local honey. Bring first 4 items to a boil, reduce and simmer 15 minutes. Remove and let sit 5 minutes. Add honey and enjoy!
